A warm welcome awaits you at our sessions. Whilst current members are typically aged 40 years plus, all ages and abilities are encouraged to join us. Many of us wouldn’t think of ourselves as musical but we have discovered that you don’t need to read music to make music. Our musical directors are the magic ingredients who create our musical highs with a range of songs from the classical Kyrie to contemporary Human – and everything in between.
There are around thirty regulars and we perform in public a few times a year. We contribute to the Party in the City, as part of the Bath Festival every May, and we entertain visitors to the Widcombe Christmas Market with seasonal songs. We have even had the honour of singing to the Mayor in his parlour!
However, if performing live is not your thing, you are still very welcome to come to our weekly sessions to enjoy having a sing and having a social get-together.
We're called Widcombe Choir because we were set up in Widcombe and that’s where we meet to sing. However, you don't have to come from Widcombe to join us! Everyone is welcome! Why not come along for a free taster session and join in! Get in touch… see section titled “Join Us” and send us your name and email address.
We now meet on Thursday afternoons between 1.30pm - 3.30pm upstairs at Widcombe Social Club - see Map link.
Autumn Term starts on Thursday 12th September 2024. See the Term Dates link for more details.
We have 2 Choir Leaders who share the running of Widcombe Choir. This means that we also get to learn a range of different music styles… which adds to the enjoyment of the occasion. Matt Finch will lead us for the first 9 Sessions of next Term (up to our Xmas Market Performance on the weekend of the 16th/17th November). After that Rachel Philips will lead us up to the end the Autumn Term, and for the first half of the Spring Term.
If you’re interested, sign up and we’ll keep you posted.
